Indic in Windows XP

In track to tap the market of first time computer users in India, Microsoft rolls out Windows XP in Hindi. As of now it will be available as OEM package and not off the shelf. If you already have the Windows XP in English and want to experience the Hindi interface, I suggest you try the Windows XP - Hindi LIP. LIP - Language Interface pack lets you experience the Windows XP in a different language.

If you are used to MUI - Multilingual User Interface, LIP is quite different from that. Make sure you read, What is the difference between LIP and MUI?

You can also try the other Indian LIPs
Windows XP - Tamizh LIP
Windows XP - Marathi LIP

If you love to type in Indian languages, you can try installing IME - Input Method Editors for the specific languages.
Hindi - IME
Tamizh - IME
Gujarati - IME
Bengali - IME

If you are a developer and would like to develop Indian language applications, Bhasha India is your one stop place for resources.
