Saturday Movie - Pulp fiction

After skating today, as usual I ended up in my friend's place and he invited me to the idea of watching Pulp fiction directed by Quentin Tarantino. I had seen this movie already may be a few years ago when Star Movies was the talk of the town in India. I thought I could watch it again as anyway I forgot what's the movie was all about. So here writing about it now...

I could tell an old joke from the movie, but I'm afraid that you wouldn't laugh...

This was kind of the typical American movie with lots of 'F' and 'M' words. If you are bothered by the use of those words, I wouldn't advise even taking a peek at this movie. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rates the movie "R". The movie is nothing but a day's life may be two day life of two mob men, their boss, a boxer and a couple of bandits. Parts of their lives are mixed and matched by pieces and presented to us. One great thing about this movie is the dialogue delivery. Especially I like the commanding voice of Samuel L Jackson and his delivery of Ezekiel 25:17 from the Bible...

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

I was quite not sure why he is stating that piece before he kills somebody. Answer came towards the rear end of the movie, he says that he memorized those lines to just say something dramatic before the killing. Well, it made a very dramatic scene before they start shooting like hell. The best part is after Jules (Sam's character in the movie) admits that he doesn't event understand what those words were, and goes on to break them into pieces and try to find the meaning. That was one of a kind direction.

Do you still want to hear that old joke? Ok, here it goes...

Three tomatoes are walking along... papa tomato, mama tomato and baby tomato. Baby tomato is lagging behind so Papa tomato goes and squishes him and says "catch-up"

Keep laughing

later...

A great tribute to 'Pulp Fiction'. I am one of the many ardent fans of Pulp fiction. The obscenities apart, that movie is a gem with a truck load of really wry jokes. As my roomie says 'Every dialog in the movie has a meaning'!
